A Return to Warcraft
3 April 2008
The way I see it is this: WoW costs $15 a month. The old argument is that if you play video games, this costs less than a new game a month.
I don't really see it that way. My current philosophy towards it is this: it's a subscription to a chat room - a really big chat room that gives you something to do in between conversations. The elements of risk and reward associated with group gaming pay off in terms of knitting together the members of a guild, which is something that you won't necessarily get playing Tetris and reading message boards.
But there are enough things to do to progress a character on Warcraft that it can be entertaining without being a real distraction from what I think is the real draw of guild chat.
Anyhow, there's still plenty else I have to do this spring. I'm working on a really big idea here, and details will follow when it's fleshed out a little bit more. The comic will likely suffer more delays, but don't fret - it's not going away yet.Tweet
